Non-replaceable, built-in batteries are something Apple is famous for. If your iPhone battery dies, you can't just swap out a new one. You have to send it in to Apple and let them replace it. Or you can do it yourself and say 'goodbye' to the warranty. We thought the rules around an iPad battery replacement would be similar, but they're actually far more of a pain in the butt. Technology News, Electronics Buy Guide and Gadget Review I have been using an iPhone for years and one of the things that I use the iPhone for more than anything is to play games. I was never a mobile gamer until I started using the iPhone. When the iPad was unveiled and I heard that you could play the same apps on it that the iPhone supported I decided I needed one for gaming.

With the Apple Store being down this morning and today being the day set for pre-orders to start I have been spamming the F5 key waiting for the store to open back up. A bit ago the store came back up and you can now pre-order any of the iPad versions. Only the WiFi models will ship on April 3, all other versions are set to ship later in April. Read more

10 hours of in-use battery life is a LOT for a 1.5 pound color LCD tablet. As a general rule, you can't trust a product's PR to give you a good estimate of how long the battery will last in real-world conditions. That's why numerous pundits have been a little leery of the battery life claims Steve Jobs made in his iPad keynote.

Fortune Magazine has just released their 2010 list of the world's most admired companies. This list is the result of a survey of businesspeople across the world and across industries. Once again, for the third year running, Apple nabbed the #1 spot. Google came in second place.

Amazon.com managed a respectable #5, while Microsoft came in at 11th place. Fortune states that Apple won this year by the highest margin ever. They credited Apple products for the majority of the admiration.

Apple just announced that the iPad is shipping April 3rd. Apple will start to take iPad pre-orders next week on March 12th for the Wifi iPad.

The 3G iPad is still scheduled for late April. The rest of the world has to wait for the Wifi and 3G iPad until late April.

Digitimes has a new report about the fear of hard-drive makers that Apple is about to cause another NAND shortage with the iPad.

Apple already uses 1/3 of the total NAND flash production. The report implies that Apple is the cause for the slow SSD adoption in PCs. If NAND flash would be readily available at lower prices SSD would faster become the standard storage technology in PCs and notebooks.
