The Asus Eee 1008HA, which launched the new seashell design could not accomplish this. The new Asus Eee 1005HA has what you like in a netbook: Very long battery life at 10.5 hours, 92% scaled keyboard, a 10.1-inch LED-backlit screen at a price under $400.

The computer retails for $599, uses an Intel Atom 1.64 GHz processor, and runs Windows XP Home. The machine has an 18.5-inch display.

The machine is very thin at 35mm and Viewsonic says the system uses 50% less plastic than traditional desktops with an LCD and a tower. Other features of the machine include four USB ports, DVD burner, memory card reader, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and Ethernet port. Read more
