5 Belkin Products Win CES 2010 Design & Engineering Distinctions

Belkin International has had a whopping five products named CES 2010 Design and Engineering Award honorees. These winners will all be displayed at the CES show at Las Vegas in January. Winning Belkin products include the Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit, TuneCast Auto Live, Micro Auto Charger, TuneBase FM (with hands-free), and CushDesk.

The Gigabit Powerline HD starter kit allows customers to stream HD movies through their existing electrical wiring. It includes an adapter that will work on a console, HDTV, or computer, a WiFi signal booster, and push-button security. You can go here to learn more.

Belkin Recalls SurgeMaster Surge Protectors

Topic:

Belkin makes all sorts of accessories and peripherals for computers and other electronic devices. Today Belkin and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a recall of several models of Belkin's Surgemaster surge protectors due to the risk of electric shock.

The recall covers about 68,700 surge protectors sold by Belkin. The problem is that the molding of the plastic 360-degree rotating plug can crack or detach posing a shock hazard. Belkin reports that it has received seven consumer complaints about the cracking, but no injuries were reported. Read more

Belkin Unveils New iPod touch Cases to Raise Money for Cancer Research

Belkin has announced a couple of new cases for the iPod touch that will help raise money for breast cancer research by donating a portion of the proceeds to research. The two cases are the DualFit for the Cure and the Grip for the Cure.

The DualFit case fits arms any size and has a clear screen protector. Other features of the case include a key pocket and the case is covered in a reflective material for nighttime use. The other case is called the Grip for the Cure. Read more

Belkin Unveils surge Protector to Save Energy Costs for Businesses

For many homes and businesses, the cost of electricity is one of the largest expenses that they have. Belkin has announced a new surge protector aimed at business users that will turn off outlets and reduce standby power consumption. The product is the Conserve Surge with Timer.

According to Belkin, over half of all IT energy costs originate with desktop hardware. The Conserve Surge with Time can reduce that power consumption by providing two always on outlets and six auto off outlets. The six auto off outlets can be turned off with the press of a button. Read more

Today I am checking out the Belkin TuneBase FM with Hands-Free. The device is an FM transmitter for the iPhone and all iPods. The MSRP when the TuneBase FM ships will be $89.99.

The device holds the iPhone in any position you want thanks to an articulating arm. The device also sends call audio to your car stereo to allow you to use the iPhone hands free. The iPhone mic still pics up your voice though. Read more

Belkin Unveils Headphone Adapter for iPod Shuffle

The new iPod shuffle is one of the less expensive and more popular iPod models on the market. The big problem with the shuffle is that the device has no external controls so users have been stuck with the stock headphones that have the integrated controls.

Belkin has announced a new adapter for the shuffle that allows the user to use any headphones with the player by adding a short cable with controls for the shuffle between the headphones and the player. The cable plugs into the shuffle and any 3.5mm connector headphones plug into it. Read more

Belkin Debuts New Comfort Mice

Belkin has unveiled a new line of mice for mobile types that are looking for more comfort while they work. The new mice include the Wireless comfort Mouse selling for $29.99. The mouse uses a USB dongle for connectivity that doubles as a place to store the mouse when moving your notebook from room to room.

The Bluetooth comfort mouse sells for $49.99 and is shaped to fit the user's hand. The mouse connects with no wires and no dongles to Bluetooth equipped notebooks. It uses a laser sensor that promises to work on a variety of surfaces. Read more

Belkin Unveils Line of Cases for iPhone 3G S

Belkin is at it again and has released a slew of cases for the new iPhone 3G S and the iPhone 3G. Among the new case offerings is the Grip series that wraps the iPhone in a layer of silicone with different textured designs for color and improved grip. Included are the Grip Ergo at $29.99, Vector two-tone at $29.99, and the Vector Duo at $19.99.

A new line of BodyGuard cases range in price from $24.99 to $34.99 and feature construction of polycarbonate and rubber in different colors and designs. Some of the bodyguard cases like the Cinema also have a kickstand for standing the device up for viewing. Read more

Belkin Announces TuneCast GPS Assisted FM Transmitter

Belkin has announced a new FM transmitter for use in cars that features an iPhone application. The device is called the TuneCast Auto Live FM Transmitter. It uses the iPhone ClearScan Live software application to allow iPhone and iPod touch users to operate the FM transmitter directly from their devices.

The application also uses the devices to get GPS coordinates to find the best stations for broadcasting in the area. Belkin says that the device and App take advantage of iPhone OS 3.0 and is the first application to interact with an iPhone FM transmitter. Read more

Belkin Offers New iPod nano 4G cases

Belkin seems to always be whipping out new accessories for the iPhone or iPod. Today the company is showing off new cases for the iPod nano 4G MP3 player. Among the cases are the new Micra and Fuse cases. The Micra cases are clear with subtle graphics for detail.

The clear design of the case allows the user to show off and see the color of their nano but adds a graphic to the clear case with a representation of a sound wave. Belkin Unveils TuneBase for iPhone

Belkin has announced its latest accessory for the iPhone called TuneBase. The product comes in two models including TuneBase FM and TuneBase Direct. Both of the devices allow for hands free use of the iPhone.

The TuneBase has a cradle that holds the iPhone and allows it to be positioned horizontally or vertically. The TuneBase Direct features a 3.5mm output to connect to the cars auxiliary input for direct playback of music. Read more

Belkin Unveils New Car Charging Products

Belkin offers so many different accessories for mobile phones and other gadgets that it's mind-boggling. The company has announced a pair of new charging products for the car called the Micro Auto Charger and Dual Auto Charger.

Belkin Says Turn Off Lights and Surge Protectors for Earth Hour

Belkin is urging computer users to switch off their lights and surge protectors on Saturday March 28 as part of the Earth Hour initiative. By turning off surge protectors standby power can be eliminated. Standby power is the power lost to devices that are not in use, but still drawing power.

According to the US Department of Energy, about 20% of the average homes power usage is phantom power. To help reduce the amount of phantom power loss in your home Belkin has a surge protector that has a wireless remote for turning off outlets. Read more

Belkin Switch-to-Mac Cable Makes Going Mac Easy

Mac sales are booming and Apple has moved up swiftly on the top selling computers chart. That means that there is a higher than ever amount of Windows users changing to Mac computers. As difficult as it can be changing from one Windows machine to another, the move from Windows to Mac is even more nerve racking.

Belkin has announced a new product called the Switch-to-Mac cable that retails for $49.99. The USB cable connects to your Windows machine and the Mac at the same time. Belkin Announces Cases for new iPod Models

Apple announced new iPod models this week and Belkin has new cases for the iPod's available. For the iPod nano 4G Belkin is offering the Sport Armband Plus with FastFit for $29.99, the same model is available for the 2G touch as well.

Other cases include the Sports Armband for new nano and touch models as well as the 2G classic for $24.99. A clear acrylic case for the 4G nano, touch 2G, and classic 2G is available for $29.99. A leaked slide from Belkin shows an upcoming gaming accessory for the Apple iPhone. The Belkin JoyPod would convert an iPhone into a portable gaming console similar to the Sony PSP.
The Belkin JoyPod would feature 8 gaming buttons and slide over the iPhone from both sides.

Belkin TuneCast Auto for iPhone 3G

Many iPhone 3G buyers were disappointed to find when their new phones were home and ready to play that many of the accessories that worked with the original iPhone and iPods would not work with the 3G version. This meant that many iPhone 3G owners were left shopping for new accessories.

Belkin Announces Gear for the ASUS Eee

Belkin is busy today with new product announcements. The latest of its new products are some things just for the popular and tiny ASUS Eee netbook. The new stuff includes a corded mouse with a retractable cord that is available now for $14.99.

Belkin also has a wireless travel mouse that has three programmable buttons and can be turned on and off. It retails for $19.99 and only works with Windows or Mac OS so if your Eee is Linux you are probably out of luck. A line of cases for the Eee and other small netbooks was announced as well.
