Google Chrome OS Hands-on Review
Google unveiled more details about their Chrome OS this week. Google also release the source code as open source and if you have time and skills you can actually run Chrome OS now.
Tweaktown did just that and published this hands-on review.
Quote from the review: "If you followed our live blogging from yesterday you know that Google made some really big claims. They claimed a 10 second boot up time and they claimed a quick and easy to use OS. They even showed us that with their demo unit they had working. The problem is that unless the source code we have is not what they were using at the demo Chrome OS is bulky, awkward and about as un-user-friendly as you can get. The snappy OS and fun items were just not there in the version we played with. Finding options and features is not easy; you really have to hunt around for what you are looking for to find it.

T-Mobile Merger On The Horizon?
Alright, so here's what we know. T-Mobile has had a tough few quarters. Their Q3 numbers were not good, and rumors abound that Deutsche Telekom is considering drastic action. It's possible that they will even sell T-Mo, although that would obviously be their last course of action. Right now, they appear to be looking at the possibility of a merger.
A report in the German newspaper Handelsblatt has all the bloggers (FierceWireless) speculating like madmen over the possibilities of a T-Mo merger. The newspaper stated that Deutsche Telekom is looking for partners for T-Mo, in order to help the ailing carrier stagger back to solvency. AT&T, Clearwire, and MetroPCS were named as possible partners.

Chrome OS Smartbooks Coming 2H2010
After yesterday's developer chat it's hard not to be excited about Chrome OS. During the talk, it was mentioned several times that Chrome was intended to be used in products like netbooks and not larger laptops and desktops. While smartbooks weren't specifically mentioned as supported or not, it seems likely that they will be. Especially in light of this news from Digitimes.
They're reporting that Pegatron Technology has received a "large volume" of smartbook orders from several different clients. It's believed these smartbooks will launch in Q1 2010 on several different carriers. These first smartbooks are expected to cost around $200 USD. Most of them will sport a Linux OS, due primarily to their tiny display size. Now, here's where things get interesting;

HomeAway Super Bowl 2010 Ad Will Feature Chevy Chase And National Lampoon's
HomeAway Inc. has announced their Super Bowl 2010 commercial. The online vacation rental marketplace is going to feature actors Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo in a National Lampoon's Vacation themed Super Bowl ad. The HomeAway Super Bowl ad could be one of the funniest Super Bowl Ads 2010 based on this setup.
"The Griswolds have always been America’s first family of travel, and the broad popularity of the Vacation movie series still continues today," says Brian Sharples, founder and chief executive officer of HomeAway. "We intend to have a lot of fun with the ad campaign, highlighting the travel mishaps that always seem to follow the Griswold family, while also promoting the value and benefits of vacation rentals as an alternative to hotels."

Chrome OS Developer Chat: Welcome To The Future Of Browsing
Chrome OS developer chat (Engadget's liveblog) shed some interesting light on the upcoming OS. As you may know, Google released the Chromium OS source code to the world today. They stated at the developer's conference that every move they make now will be open.
The launch of the source code today means that, with a little bit of elbow grease and effort, it is now possible to run Chrome OS. While this isn't recommended for normal users, those of us that like to tinker with our machines will finally have a chance.

Amazon Black Friday Countdown Deal Is Acer Laptop With 5 Free Game Downloads
The Amazon Black Friday Countdown deal for today is featuring the new Acer AS5738Z-4111 Windows 7 Laptop bundled with five free game downloads.
The Acer AS5738Z-4111 features an 15.6 inch screen, 2.1GHz Intel Pentium T4300 Processor, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 320GB HDD and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
The price of the Acer AS5738Z is $499.99. The 5 download games are priced at $6.99 each. You save $34.95. This Acer laptop is ok, but this is not really a sexy deal, especially since I have a feeling the digital content is not valued as high as getting a package with a disc.

Google's Chrome OS Event Is Tomorrow
Alright, so we've got good news and bad news. First off, the good news. TechCrunch has been notified that Google is planning a Chrome OS event for Thursday. As in tomorrow Thursday. This event will feature technical info, demos, and a "complete overview" of the new OS. Google didn't say it, but I think it's likely we'll see at least a couple sneak-peeks at some of the Chrome OS devices that are under development too.
Now the bad news. The wording of this announcement makes it unlikely that we'll actually see a Chrome OS launch this week, as was previously rumored. In their notification to TechCrunch, Google stated that their new OS will launch next year. That's a bit of a bummer, but not entirely unexpected. If Chrome OS does launch next year, it will almost certainly hit in Q1.

Ainol V9000 'Megatron' PMP Has 4.8'' Screen
There's an unseen downside to writing about technology for a living. Every week brings a slew of rumors and official info on hot new devices coming down the pipe. I fall in love with a new gadget about every eight hours, more often during the Christmas season. The sheer amount of awesome deals on badass gizmos is enough to drive a man to bankruptcy. Usually I'm able to clamp down on my techno-lust, but not this time. If and when Ainol's new V9000 PMP hits the United States, I doubt I'll be able to stop myself from buying one. (via Akihabara News)
This sweet new Chinese PMP is nicknamed the 'Megatron', and for good reason. It has a solid, industrial-looking design that frames its enormous 4.8" screen nicely. The Megatron can render 1080p video, and also features an HDMI port. It's got 16 GB of internal storage, a DM Tuner, and a 2450 mAH battery.

Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies Game Review
Today I am looking at the new game for the iPhone and iPod touch called Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies. The game is exactly like the zombie levels from the full game and is tons of fun.

AMD ATI HD 5970 Becomes Official
AMD has announced that the ATI HD 5970 is now official. The video card is being hailed as the fastest video card in the world. It is DirectX 11 compliant and supports ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology. The video card can drive up to three displays at once with a maximum resolution of 7680 x 1600.
EA claims that the card delivers nearly five teraflops of processing power. The dual GPUs are built on a 40nm process and have 3,200 stream processors. When the power of both GPUs isn't needed, the card powers down unused resources allowing it to use as little as 42W of power in idle mode. Read more

Back to the Artemide LED Tolomeo lamp. What should I say, I also have a Tolomeo Mini Table Task Lamp on my desk. Their design is cool and timeless.
