AMD To Make Netbook Chip
Either AMD has finally made their peace with the concept of netbooks, or they've finally admitted to themselves that it's useless to fight a trend. The company is about to launch a new “Fusion” line of chips, designed to work specifically in netbooks. These new chips are expected to launch at some point in 2011.
Netbooked reports (via Hardware Central) that these new netbook-based chips will consume about 10-15 watts of power (about 1/3rd of what they draw now) and will be designed for 10”-12” netbooks. There will be “good integrated graphics performance” that will supposedly make Ion “unnecessary”.

MSI Wind U160 Netbook Finally Available
Remember that MSI Wind U160 we first heard about awhile back? Well the little netbook is finally shipping. The little rigs biggest feature that will grab your attention is the claim of 15 hours of battery life. I have yet to see a machine actually offer what the manufacturer claims in battery life in the real world.
The U160 uses the power sipping Intel Atom N450 CPU and features the MSI Eco mode setting to extend battery life. The machine can be had in sparkling gold or black, presumably this is the gold here though it looks brown. Read more

CeBIT 2010: Coby Makes $85 Netbook-ish Thing
It looks like tablets and the mini-netbooks that shall-not-be-named might be rolling towards a bit of a price war. After HiVision's $100 tablet was announced, Coby felt secure in bringing up their $85 mini-netbook (Netbooked).
This little budget-gadget has a 624 MHz Marvell processor, 7” display with a 10” bezel, and the Windows CE operating system. If you wiped the OS and re-installed XP or some Linux distro, I'd be willing to bet you could make this little guy non-terrible to use. Sure, it's going to be slow, but you can afford to get one of these for every room in the house.

Averatec Makes 'World's Lightest' 10” Netbook
If netbook weight is a big deal for you, Averatec has a product you should really look into. Electronista reports that they claim their N1200 10.1” netbook is the lightest and thinnest such product of its size. At just 2.2 lbs and .9” thick, I'm inclined to believe them.
Apparently, they've managed to make such a tiny netbook by doing things differently than most netbook manufacturers. The N1200 packs 7mm hard drives and lithium-polymer batteries. Unfortunately, it sacrifices battery life for size; you'll get 3 hours with the standard battery, and 6 hours out of the extended one.

When I was a kid, the T-1000 from Terminator 2 was the pinnacle of badass technological development. Sure, it was an evil murder machine that was hell bent on ending human life entirely, but that didn't make it any less awesome. Netbooked reports that Gigabyte has just added the T1000 tablet/netbook to their line. There are two models; the T1000X and P. The X is a single-touch display with a 4 cell battery and a 2.9 lbs weight. The P is a multitouch machine with a 6 cell battery and a 3.3 lbs weight. The X packs an N450 processor, while the P sports an N470.
