Asus Delays EEE Keyboard 'Till 2010, 10-inch Tablet PC Coming
The Asus Eee Keyboard, previously confirmed for an October 2009 release, won't be out until 2010. Savvy gadget nerds probably realized this several days ago, when the netbook-inside-a-keyboard didn't launch within the one month window given. Now, Digitimes gives us the reason why. Apparently the original version of the Eee Keyboard didn't pass wireless regulation testing.
That's a huge bummer for every gadget nerd who wanted one of the sweet and totally cyberpunk keyboards, but this bad news comes with a bit of good. Asus has restated that the Eee Keyboard will be coming to the US and Europe. The company will be updating the machine in order to comply with regulations, and they've also made the 5” touchscreen interface capacitive. The device's price point will stay at around $500 USD.

Windows 7 Leads To PC Sales Surge
The Windows 7 launch was bound to do good things for PC sales. Vista was awful and Win 7 has been lauded by reviewers as the best new Microsoft OS since XP. No one will be surprised to hear that last month's launch lead to a bump in PC sales. What is surprising, is just how much they bumped up by.
Electronista reports that a Morgan Stanley analyst has come out with the first sales data on the Windows 7 launch. NPD sales data points to a 40% boost in PC sales during launch week, compared to sales at the same time last year. The exact nature of the sales hints at a huge amount of Windows 7 sales, rather than a rapid liquidation of existing Vista hardware.

There is some information about the OLPC project of Nicholas Negroponte. Apparently the 2nd generation OLPC XO laptop will only be a hardware upgrade of the current model and OLPC focuses on a completely new design for the 3rd generation which is supposed to hit the market in 2012.
Negroponte is quoted in an article on Xconomy as saying that the XO 3.0 is a single sheet, completely plastic and unbreakable, waterproof, 1/4" thick, full color, reflective and transmissive, no bezel, no holes. 1W and a price of $75.

Just when I'd started to lose faith in Amazon's ability to innovate, they send out a press release like this (via Giz). Today, as part of the Windows 7 roll-out, Amazon announced the launch of "Kindle for PC", a free application for reading Kindle books. On a normal PC, it'll allow you to save and bookmark your place across devices. If you read ten pages on your desktop and switch over to your Kindle, you'll find your book has advanced to the spot you left off at just a few moments ago. Also; color photos.

SanDisk Ships First 4BPC Memory Cards
Not every step forward for technology is announced with fanfare, huge product roll-outs, and a gigantic media blitz. Some advances are very quiet, like the shipment of the very first line of memory cards based around the new X4 technology. SanDisk (via Electronista) just started sending out their new line of standard SDHC and Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, which use 4 BPC storage as opposed to the standard 2 or 3 BPC.
BPC stands for "bits per cell". The increase to 4 BPC should allow for smaller 8 GB and 16 GB chips, and will scale to allow for 64 GB and larger capacity SDHC chips in the near future. The coming of 4 BPC technology will also have reprecussions in the world of solid state drives, as SSDs also use multi-level cell storage.

Among these offerings is a sealed mouse called the Mighty Mouse. You may or may not recognize the Mighty Mouse name as what Apple calls some of its Mac mice as well. Gateway Multitouch All-In-One PCs Coming
Windows 7 is due out on the 22nd of this month, and with it will come a whole plethora of new devices. Since Win 7 has touchscreen support, we're going to see a lot of tablets, touchscreen notebooks, and all-in-ones that take advantage of this fact. According to Gizmodo Gateway has two new multitouch beauties due out just in time for the Windows 7 launch.
Now, normally, all-in-one PCs like this are pretty low power machines. The $1400 24" ZX6800, however, breaks that stereotype with its 2.33 GHz Core 2 Quad 2.33 GHz processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics chipset. It has a 64 GB SSD for handing the OS and applications, plus a 1 TB hard disk for all your media. It also has an 8x DVD writer, a multi-card reader, WiFi, an HD webcam, 6 USB slots, and the ability to act as an HDTV. That's right; the ZX6800 is capable of displaying 1080p, and has a built-in TV tuner, remote control, 5.1 channel audio, and 5-watt stereo speakers.
