Panamorph FVX200 Lens Adds 2.40:1 Support to Existing Projectors
One of the things that people ask me frequently is how they can get rid of those black bars at the top and bottom of the image when they are watching HD movies on most HD sets. The answer I give is that sometimes you can't. The black bars are there because the aspect ratio used in theaters is not supported by most HDTVs and projectors that we have in homes.
If you want to remove the black bars, a company called Panamorph has announced a new lens that can be attached to the JVC line of home theater projectors. The lens turns the projected image into the movie theater 2.40:1 aspect ratio, eliminating the black bars. Read more

3D Projectors Like The LG CF3D Are The Way To Bring 3D Home
3D for the living room has emerged as a huge theme at CES 2010 and electronics and media companies have announced lots of 3D gear and content that will be available this year.
I like 3D in the cinema. I was watching 3D as soon as the first IMAX theaters had 3D movie features years back. Today many normal cinemas offer 3D movie feature presentations and I love this trend.
The way I watch movies at home is with a Blu-ray player and an HDTV. Watching movies is an event for me and my family and with a screen of about 150 inches we have a small cinema with comfy seats, free drinks and no tall people sitting in front of us.
For me a big screen is totally essential to making movie watching immersive. The same is true for watching a movie in 3D. Watching a movie on a 50-inch screen does not get anywhere near the cinema experience. A TV is good for watching TV, but movies need a bigger canvas.
